Mamaland
Mamaland Children’s Village
The 2014 Ebola Virus Outbreak left a lasting impact on Sierra Leone—especially in our district of Koinadugu, a rural region in the northern part of the country. More than 300 children were orphaned during this time.
Our vision began with a desire to care for 50 of these orphans. Over time, we discovered that many children in our district are orphaned not only because of Ebola but also due to the lack of medical resources in extremely remote villages. Some of our girls come from families where both parents are still living, but government authorities have determined their home environments to be unsafe.

The Heart of Mamaland
Mamaland Children’s Village is a place where young girls are fed, nurtured, educated, and spiritually uplifted—from the age of three through college. We currently provide full-time physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual care to 20 beautiful young girls.
Our dream is that these girls will grow into women who are:
- Faithful Christians, making disciples of all nations.
- Change-makers in society, equipped with a high-quality education that leads to meaningful careers in Sierra Leone.
- Community servants, returning to their home villages to teach essential life skills—such as clean water practices, caring for the sick, and promoting sustainable living.
We believe we are raising the next generation of politicians, teachers, doctors, and businesswomen whose legacy will transform Sierra Leone for generations to come

Life at Mamaland
Each child receives three nutritious meals a day, attends one of the top schools in the district, and benefits from after-school tutoring and a strong, loving community grounded in Christian values.
Our program encourages the girls to maintain connections with their families and home villages. They regularly return for short visits to share what they’ve learned—helping to create a bridge of knowledge and hope between Mamaland and their communities.
Our long-term vision is that these young women will return to assist their communities by building clinics, schools, and small businesses, just as Dorcas Kamanda—one of our shining examples—has done.

Faith at the Foundation

Where We Are
Mamaland is located just outside Kabala, in northern Sierra Leone. While Kabala offers access to clean water, healthcare, and local markets, many nearby villages do not. Nineteen of our twenty girls come from these remote areas, where there is no electricity, no clean water, and survival depends on farming. In these villages, girls often begin cooking, farming, and caring for siblings by the age of three, and school attendance is rare.
Mamaland provides these girls—and their families—with opportunities that are otherwise uncommon across Sierra Leone.

What Success Looks Like
Success means empowering these girls to become confident, capable, and compassionate women who lead change in their communities. Our goal is to ensure that every girl who desires it has the opportunity to attend college—whether in Sierra Leone, across Africa, or in the United States.

Our Role in the Bigger Picture
Over the past decade, international aid in Sierra Leone, particularly in the Koinadugu District, has steadily declined due to limited trust in government systems. Mamaland and Salone Rising exist to fill these gaps. We are a locally led initiative, partnering directly with community members who have a deep desire to uplift their people. Our mission is simple: to equip them with the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.
