Sarah is from the same village as Tenneh. She grew up with her mom, grandparents, and father. Sarah’s father passed away when she was younger, and her mom had been raising her alone since. She remembers, “If I didn’t fetch water, I could not eat.” Sarah’s mom was 14 years old when she gave birth and was no longer able to care for her due to illness. The government stepped in to find a suitable home for her. She likes the color blue, eating rice, language arts, and playing futbol (soccer). Sarah is a quick learner, is at the top of her class, especially enjoying English. Grandma Dorcas sees huge potential in her as she is a devoted student and is very motivated. Although small for her age, Sarah is mighty in her aspirations and values, saying, “I feel happy to be a Christian. When I grow up I want to help other children, to show them that anything is possible for them.”
