Fatmata, who goes by FA is Isata (IS’s) older sister. Their mother died, which left the girls in the care of their aunt who is very young with 2 young children of her own. Efforts to locate the girls’ father were unsuccessful as he was from a different tribe. He had traveled to the area to work in a gold mine, but returned to his province when the mine went out of business. Their aunt brought them to Mamaland personally, begging for them to be helped as she was no longer able to care for the girls. FA is very affectionate, playful, quick to raise her hand to participate in Bible study. Her favorite color is blue, her favorite foods are macaroni, couscous and rice and she wants to be a soldier when she grows up. With no education before she arrived, she has picked up English quickly and is growing tremendously academically and spiritually.
