Where We Are Located

Salone Rising and Mamaland are based in Kabala, the capital of the Koinadugu District in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone—about 187 miles from the nation’s capital, Freetown. Known for its beautiful mountains and fertile land, Kabala is a vibrant agricultural hub where farming and livestock are central to daily life.

Locally known as the “Land of Powerful Mixture,” Kabala is home to several tribes—including the Kuranko, Mandingo, Fula, Limba, and Yalunka—each with its own unique language, customs, and traditions. Despite this diversity, the tribes live together in harmony, reflecting the unity and strength of the community.

Mamaland Children’s Village is located just outside the main town of Kabala, in a nearby village called Nefrandor. The land for Mamaland was graciously donated by the District Chief, who has witnessed firsthand the positive impact of Salone Rising and shares deeply in our vision to empower the people of Sierra Leone.
